Beware the Near Miss
In my nearly 30 years of being directly involved in industrial safety it still frustrates me to hear “that nearly happened to me recently”.
So many incidents and injuries can be avoided if near miss type events are reported and acted upon as they occur.
This can be done by completing a form or at least reporting the event to the area supervisor and your Workforce on Tap contact as soon as possible.
You may well save a fellow workmate from injury by early and effective reporting.
Some people call these events Near Hits as the outcome could be damaging and result in injury. It does not matter what you call them as long as they are reported promptly and acted upon in a timely manner.
In a way it is a great example and opportunity to look after each other in the workplace and keep the place and the people in it safe.
Remember - All injuries are preventable: you have the ability and the responsibility to make suggestions for improvements.
